Low prices on the Springfield Armory 1911 TRP Concealed Carry .45ACP start at Champion Firearms.

Civilian Version of the Springfield Professional. The Springfield Professional Model has been the choice of the FBI SWAT teams since 1998 and the TRP (which stands for Tactical Response Pistol) is designed around the same specifications. According to Dave Williams, director of the Springfield Custom Shop, the TRP production starts out in a similar manner as the Professional.

The gunsmith receives a semi-finished, hand-forged National Match frame and slide,
and individually cuts the rails, drills the pinholes, and fits the slide by hand lapping it to the frame. The result of this attention is a slide to frame fit that has zero vertical or horizontal play.

The match grade trigger is aluminum and fitted with an overtravel stop. As with the Professional, the TRP features a magazine well extension and 20 L.P.I. checkered front strap.

The finish is a black Armory Cerakote, and the best way to describe the look of the gun is to say its all business.

The pistol features a 4.25-inch match grade, stainless steel barrel that provides a tight fit for enhanced accuracy. To further increase reliability, the chamber and feed ramp have been throated and polished.

The slide includes front and rear cocking serrations for improved handling. The gun has no sharp edgesSpringfield calls this their carry bevel treatmentand it wears dovetail-mounted front and rear sights.

The sights are fast and easy to pick-up and provide a great sight picture. Both front and rear sights have tritium inserts. The hammer is the somewhat elongated, spurless version that Springfield designates a Delta lightweight hammer for higher performance and serves to further improves lock time.

The grips are unique to the TRP line and are made from a G10 composite with a snakeskin like texture and feature a relief cut on the left panel to improve access to the magazine release. The ejection port is lowered and flared, and the magazine well is very slightly beveled.

An elongated and serrated ambidextrous thumb safety provide instant disengagement at the flick of the thumb. The nicely textured rear grip frame allows for a positive hold, while the beavertail grip safety, with its memory bump, provides consistently reliable disengagement.

The extended beavertail keeps unwanted hand parts away from the skeletonized hammer. The recoil system uses a national match one-piece full length guide rod.

This is a full- size, 1911 weighing in at a hefty 42- ounces with an empty magazine inserted. Thats several ounces heavier than John M. Brownings original variant, but the gun balances so well in the hand and rides naturally that the difference is not readily noticeable.

The barrel slot allows you to look down and clearly see the brass case of a chambered round. The magazine release pushes in easily with the right hand thumb, or index finger of the left hand.

The gun comes with three 7-round magazines that comfortably slide into a beveled magazine well. The all-steel design loads easily (without the use of an aid) and drop freely from the pistol when you press the release button.
As of 2017, Springfield no longer includes holsters or magazine pouches as a part of any of their handgun packages. A hard case is still included with 3 magazines.

Overall, right out of the box, the Springfield TRP represents one of the finest production 1911's ever produced. It is extremely accurate, smooth, rugged, reliable and will make an outstanding self- defense handgun.
