Quest For The Ultimate Rimfire. Magnum Research's "Magnum Lite" rifle is an ultra- lightweight, reliable, superbly accurate carbine chambered in the popular .17HMR cartridge.
At the heart of the design lies a spring assisted straight pull bolt action system. Magnum Research builds their own custom actions and the Magnum Lite subsequently features a state-of-the-art receiver CNC machined from forged 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum.
Compatible with any Weaver style scope rings, the receiver wears an integral optics base. Since the .17HMR cartridge is the perfect choice for short to medium range varmints or predators, the stability of the rifle's scope base easily accommodates high powered scopes. There is even a case to be made for the rifle serving double duty as an extremely low recoil, reduced liability, home defense carbine.
The bolt is manufactured and machined from heat treated 4140 steel with a tight bolt face for strength and accuracy. An oversized, tactical style bolt handle make reloads quick and easy. The 19- inch stainless steel graphite lined barrel adds stiffness and improves harmonics, while adding very little in the way of weight. For enhanced accuracy, the barrel features an 11- degree target crown.
What really makes the barrel unique is its patented barrel technology, where graphite fibers run unidirectional and parallel to the bore axis. The bull barrel profile is .920" in diameter and the result is a barrel that is six times more rigid than steel of the same weight, which also dissipates heat 43% faster. Even though it's graphite lined, both the muzzle and receiver have steel caps to contend with repeated gas pressure of magnum rimfire cartridges.
A Hogue Overmolded stocks mounts securely when shouldered, while the pebbled surface texture improves overall weapon retention and control. To provide attachment points for a sling, the stock is equipped with standard size studs.
The Magnum Research Magnum Lite weighs in at just under 4-1/2 pounds and has an overall length of 37- inches, making it lightweight and handy enough for most close range varmint hunting applications. A reliable 9- round Ruger rotary magazine is supplied with the gun. Similarly, the rifle has been outfitted with a Ruger trigger group, which breaks crisply and cleanly at 3-3/4 pounds.
For service or repairs, the rifle is backed by the company's standard 1- year manufacturer's warranty.
