Incoming FFL Transfers to Champion Firearms:
Please Review the Following Terms & Conditions Carefully before having any firearm shipped to Champion Firearms:
  • All incoming firearms, whether from a manufacturer, distributor or another FFL dealer, must be pre- approved.
  • When mystery guns arrive without instructions, without a clear indication as to who the sender or intended recipient happen to be, it creates a logistical nightmare for our ATF paperwork requirements.
  • In the past, many of these mystery guns have sat on our shelves and in our logbooks for several months without resolution.
  • Therefore, no firearm will be accepted that has not received our express prior consent in advance.
  • Please contact a store manager prior to shipping the firearm to authorize an FFL transfer.
  • Firearms not approved in advance will be refused at the door. The freight company will then be instructed to return to sender.
  • All incoming transfers must include a complete invoice (envolope taped to shipping box- see "Sample Template" below)
Champion Firearms Price is $25 per gun for all approved FFL transfers.
Approved Transfers"- we will be happy to perform a FFL transfer on any firearm that we don't ordinarily sell, stock or special order.
  • Examples include used guns, estate sales, inheritances, out-of-production / hard to get guns, guns we simply cannot otherwise offer for sale. Again, please check with us first.
Champion Firearms Price for performing transfers on firearms that we normally stock / non- approved tranfers, will be the standard 10% mark- up that have have on all new guns in our store.
  • Performing FFL transfers is a customer service that we perform to ensure our customers enjoy the widest selection of firearm possible.
  • Since the $25 transfer rate typically will not cover the labor costs involved in a transfer, we simply cannot perform FFL transfers on guns we ordinarily stock in our store.
Sample Invoice Template an invoice that has been securely sealed inside an envelope, taped to the shipping with the following information clearly listed within--

Store Policy Madates that we not open the transfer package until you arrive and federal law disctates you must be the one picking up the firearm. In other words, you break the seal, but may not legally send anyone else in to pick up the firearm or fill out the paperwork on your behalf.
Please Note: Champion Firearms is Not Responsible for damaged or missing items. Please contact the seller / carrier directly for all claims.
Outgoing FFL Transfers:
There is No Transfer Fee on any gun sold in our store. The only fee involved will be the actual cost of shipping.
New Firearms From Our Store are the only guns that will be outgoing FFL transfers.
  • Effective Fall 2008, we no longer ship walk-in firearms for outgoing FFL transfers.
Please Clear Every Transfer With Your Local FFL before purchasing a firearm online, ask for any fees and legal regulations that might be involved, then make sure you're eligible to own or possess the firearm.

General Information:

Definitions
  • FFL (Federal Firearms License)- provides legal authorization for a dealer to engage in the intrastate & interstate sale of modern firearms.
  • NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System)- regulatory division of the FBI that verifies legal eligibility for firearms purchases.
  • "Straw- Man" Purchases- an illegal firearm purchase where the actual buyer of the gun, being unable to pass the required federal background check or desiring not to have his or her name associated with the transaction, uses a proxy buyer who can pass the required background check to purchase the firearm for him/her. It is highly illegal and punishable by a $250,000 fine and 10 years in prison.

FFL Transfers Allow a Firearm to be legally bought or sold over the internet.

  • While there are exceptions to the Gun Control Act of 1968, the person taking possession of the firearm is required to pass an FBI NICS background check.
  • In addition, some jurisdictions may have additional processing requirements such as state or local criminal history / substance abuse / psychiatric background checks. Others actually have mandatory firearms registration & licensing. (Click Here to view "Legal Restrictions & Requirements...States w/ Restrictions").
No Gun Registration or Licensing in Texas-
  • Once the FBI NICS background check has been approved, you are clear to take the firearm.
  • The NICS background check is not the same as registration.
  • The FBI NICS background check simply confirms that you are a legal purchaser.
  • In addition, a Texas CHL will bypass the NICS requirement, though the purchaser must still complete an ATF form 4473 to take the firearm.

Most States Allow privately held firearms to be shipped directly to an FFL in another state for transfer.

  • A private individual in most states (like Texas) can legally ship their gun directly to an FFL in another state for legal transfer.
  • Please consult all local, state and federal laws before selling or shipping any firearm
Selected Jurisdictions Mandate all firearm transactions take place between FFL's.
  • Such jurisdictions may even have additional firearm registration, licensing, criminal history, psychiatric or substance abuse requirements (Click Here-- see "States w/ Restrictions").
  • Specifically, individuals in some jurisdictions may be prohibited from shipping their firearm to an FFL in another state for final transfer. Therefore, the transaction must be FFL to FFL.

FFL Transfer Regulations in Texas (firearms transferred over-the-counter):

  • Champion Firearms may ONLY transfer guns over-the-counter to eligible purchasers.
  • "Eligible" purchasers are those individuals that successfully pass the NICS background check, or have a valid Texas Concealed Handgun License.
  • To be "eligible", the purchaser does not have state, local or federal laws that prohibits the possession or transfer of the firearm.
  • Handguns may only be tranferred over-the-counter to a Texas resident.
  • Rifles or shotguns may be sold or transferred over-the-counter to an out-of-state resident, provided there are no restrictions against it.
  • We may not mail firearms transactions to a home or business that is not an FFL.
  • By federal law, all FFL transfers must take place in person.
A Signed Copy of Your Transfer Dealers FFL is the fastest & easiest way for Champion Firearms to perform FFL transfers.
  • For reasons of speed & simplicity, Champion Firearms humbly requests an exchange of licenses between our store and your FFL (our fax # is 979-696-6340, email: [email protected]).
Gun Transfers from Non- FFLs- sorry, we do not provide copies of our FFL to individuals.
  • To confirm that we are a valid FFL, please Click Here to access the ATF's online FFL database. Then, enter the first 3, and then last 5- digits of our FFL (provided upon request at the time of transfer via email).
Straw Man Purchases- are illegal and will be refused by Champion Firearms.
  • Specifically, the purchaser (named on the invoice) must be the person legally taking possession of the firearm-- and no one else.

Please Make Sure that You're Legally Eligible to own a firearm and are willing to fulfill all local, state or municipal requirements before buying a gun.
