Super Versatile Semi- Auto Hunting Shotgun. The Beretta A400 Lite is a semi-automatic shotgun that is equally at home while goose, turkey, duck or dove hunting.
It incorporates all the advantages of the revolutionary A400 concept--low profile action, light weight, lightning-fast follow-up shots, low recoil, easy maintenance--and combines them with the rugged looks of matte steel and a synthetic stock. But even here, Beretta has an eye towards innovation, offering updated lines and checkering, as well as a contrasting-color receiver.
At the heart of the A400 Lite is a gas-operated action that was built for speed, reliability and versatility. Featuring Beretta's Blink technology, it is capable of firing 4 shells in less than 1 second, giving you the fastest follow-up shots of any shotgun on the market. Rotary bolt lock-up allows the A400 action to cycle 36 percent faster than any other semi-automatic.
Also, the gun can safely fire lead or steel shot, and chamber the best shell for the job regardless of length (2-3/4” or 3”) or power (mild for target to hard-hitting for hunting). The action is light and trim, making this shotgun’s balance, swing and pointability the absolute best in its class.
For more than five centuries, Beretta has made the best barrels in the world. The gun's 26- inch Steelium barrel is a patented tri-alloy steel specifically developed by Beretta for shotgun barrels. The special blend of steels is extremely light while offering high resistance to deformation, as well as durability.
For the shooter, this means patterns remaining consistent over time, and a shotgun that will last for generations. This results in a superior design that delivers a thinner, more accurate shotgun.
As a solid barrel blank, this unique proprietary blend of steel, chromium and molybdenum is deep-hole drilled, cold hammer forged and then chrome lined, which provides two major advantages. The first is to ensure the internal barrel dimensions remain perfectly concentric, providing greater precision and accuracy.
The second is to add strength for firing steel shot or magnum loads. The barrel is exceptionally well made and then stress relieved by a controlled cooling process, which slowly bring the steel forging temperatures down over a period of days to maximize barrel harmonics and performance.
Three interchangeable, Optima-Bore HP chokes are included with the package: C, M & F. The geometry of the choke offers the best ballistic performance available, with steel or lead shot. Thanks to its design, shot pattern remains perfectly uniform whatever the shell size or load, giving you consistency and accuracy on a hunt, or at the range.
The A400 Xtreme Unico gives you several of today’s most advanced recoil reduction concepts right out of the box. Combining hydraulic shock-absorbers with an ultra-soft Micro-Core butt-pad, these systems work together to minimize not only the recoil from the cartridge ignition and firing, but also from the backward-movement of the bolt. The shotgun is designed to recoil parallel to the cheek mount, which also reduces felt kick while giving you faster follow-up shots.
Altogether, these recoil-reduction devices decrease felt recoil by 70%, meaning that you can enjoy a longer day in the field or at the range without your shoulder paying the price. Beretta’s Kick-Off hydraulic dampening reduction system reduces recoil an astounding 44% more than its closest rival by using two hydraulic recoil dampers incorporated into the stock “spacer” unit. The recoil energy is gradually dissipated by the hydraulic dampers, resulting in superior comfort for the shooter.
The gun metal gray finish offers superior resistance to the elements, including water, powder, sand and salt spray. This means that with basic maintenance, this shotgun can easily give you more than a lifetime of hard service.
Cleaning the shotgun is quick and easy: you can field-strip the A400 Xplor without any tools, and it comes apart in only five components that are simple to reassemble. The trigger guard and fore-end tip are polymer, as is the magazine cap, and is made of non-seizing polymer and Ergal (performance aluminum).
For service or repair, the shotgun is backed by Beretta's "1+2" policy, which means that as long as you fill out the owner registration card and mail it in, the gun effectively has a three year warranty. Overall, all of the revolutionary features found on the A400 Xtreme Unico make it one of the best and most versatile semiauto shotguns for hardcore hunting.
