Knowledge of How to Shoot a Handgun- keep in mind that we are prohibited from teaching students how to shoot as part of the class.
  • If you need to learn how to shoot, please hire one of our instructors well in advance of the shooting exam.
Handgun- even though we'll be happy to let you borrow a loaner gun for range qualification, we recommend sticking with the handgun that you've become familiar using.
  • If you decide to borrow one of ours, please take advantage of our complimentary range practice session and make sure you are 100% confident with that particular handgun.
  • If borrowing one of our range guns for the shooting test, make sure that you understand how to safely & effectively operate this gun in advance.
  • Please do not hesitate to ask for help.
Ammunition- if you shoot a handgun where the ammunition is hard to get.
  • Otherwise, we will be happy to sell you ammo when you arrive for range qualification.
  • If borrowing one of our loaner guns from the range, you must purchase and use our range ammunition for this purpose.
Snacks or Drinks- if you prefer a different beverage than the ones we will provide throughout the day, or simply cannot hold out until the lunch break at noon, please feel free to bring your own.
  • Again, we will have a cooler full of water, Dr. Pepper & Gatorade on hand all day.
  • In addition, we're under the same roof as Starbuck's Cafe and are surrounded by several retaurants and an H-E-B with a solid deli.

Closed Shoes & Shirt for the Range- it may not cause serious injury, but hot brass ejecting from your handgun is no fun when it goes down your shirt or sandals.

Light Jacket (even in the summer)- both range and classroom are air conditioned.
  • We keep the temperatures in the range and classroom area set at 72- degrees.
