CHL OVERVIEW
Welcome to the CHL Course at Champion Firearms!
 
 
Quick Overview-

Three Primary Fees Involved:
State Licensing- is payable directly to the Texas DPS for issuing a concealed handgun license.
  • The standard licensing fee for a 1st time applicant is $140, half price to seniors, $25 to veterans & free to active military (within 1- year of discharge).
  • The standard licensing fee for renewals is $70, half price to seniors, $25 to veterans & free to active military (within 1- year of discharge).
Fingerprinting-effective March 1st 2011, instructor's & law enforcement agencies are no longer allowed to fingerprint CHL students. 
  • L1 Fingerprint Solutions now handles all CHL fingerprinting and charges $10.
Instructor's Certification- here at Champion Firearms, we charge $50 for both new applicant's & renewals (if necessary). 
  • Registration is required to reserve a seat in an upcoming course.
  • At the time of registration, payment for the course must be paid in full and is non- refundable.
  • Finally, we allow students a 1- time roll over (transfer to another class) with a minimum 7- day notice.  
4- Hour Course Requirements (2) different sections
Classroom- the State of Texas mandates four to six hours of classroom instruction for new applicants. Afterward, a standardized written exam will be given.
  • Our course fee is $50 for new (or renewal) students, and we will do our best to successfully complete all required classroom material in 4- hours.
Range Qualification- the State of Texas also mandates a standardized shooting test to demonstrate range proficiency.
  • The shooting test will consist of 50- rounds fired at three distances-- 20- shots @ 9- feet, 20- shots @ 21- feet & 10- shots @ 45- feet.
  • The shooting test is timed & graded for accuracy. 
  • Each student must be safe and capable of following directions.
