Description Additional Information

Low prices on the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard w/ Crimson Trace Laser & NO Safety .380 start at Champion Firearms:

Building A Better Mouse Gun. The Smith & Wesson Bodyguard .380 has a slide and barrel that are constructed of Melonite-hardened stainless steel. It also has a tough polymer frame.

These two features combined mean that the Bodyguard is extremely resistant to the corrosive effects of sweat. The thumb safety that has previously been standard on the Bodyguard is now absent this particular model.

The spring actually drives a hammer, not a striker. The Bodyguard .380 also has a second strike capability. This means that when the hammer is dropped on a cartridge that fails to ignite the first time, a second attempt can be accomplished simply by squeezing the trigger, thus greatly increasing the probability it will go off the second time, without having to first rack the slide.

While making the .380 as compact as possible, Smith & Wesson still looked after the details. Rather than the sights appearing as mere lumps cast onto the slide, this pistol includes a legitimate set of sights dovetailed into the slide.

That means that if you ever have the desire to change them in the future, the option has been made available. The internals of the frame are steel, with the trigger sub-assembly pinned into the frame itself.

The polymer portion of the frame is just a shell to hold the parts, and then give your hand a place to grab. It's also home to Crimson Trace laser sight that is ambidextrous activation by the push of a button. The scalloped back end of the frame also help to protect your hand from the slide.

On the left side of the Bodyguard .380's frame are two levers: the one closest to the muzzle is for takedown and the one in the middle holds the slide open. With a barrel length of 2-3/4 inches long and weighing in at only 11.85 ounces, the Bodyguard is equally at home serving as a concealed handgun or back- up duty pistol.

The magazine holds six rounds plus one in the chamber, and has a baseplate with an extended lip at the front. Clearly, the plan here was to provide additional contact with your shooting hand for increased control over the pistol. Recoil is minimized by the locked breach design.

Overall, the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard .380 is an excellent quality concealed handgun capable of discretely going anywhere and dropping into any pocket. It is easy to operate, easy to maintain and affordable.
