A Pleasure to Shoot. Designed with the assistance of renown defensive pistol instructor Clint Smith of Thunder Ranch in Oregon, the Smith & Wesson 325 Thunder Ranch is designed to fire the popular .45ACP cartridge. The gun features a lightweight scandium frame and barrel shroud, making it very maneuverable, along with a robust steel cylinder and barrel.

A 4" full barrel sports a set of rear adjustable with gold bead Patridge front sights for improved target acquisition. The six round cylinder is fluted and cut for moon clips, which make shooting an auto cartridge like the .45ACP possible in a wheel gun, and also has the advantage of acting like an self- contained speed loader.

45ACP cartridges have a short over all length and slide easily into the cylinder, while moon clips keep the rounds together for positive loading and ejection. Also, moon clips have the correct balance and are rigid, allowing just the right amount of cartridge movement to make loading even easier.

At the heart of the 325 Thunder Ranch lies it's massive N- Frame chassis that provides strength and durability, while still being well balanced, due to its Scandium Alloy construction. The revolver weighs in at around 31- ounces unloaded and handles extremely well.

It has excellent leverage for the size of the handgun, and the average hand fits the gun well, offering good purchase on the grips. Inherent with the design, a shooter's index finger reaches the trigger with minimum effort.

Shots can be fired in either a double action mode, or for greater precision, the large exposed hammer can be easily cocked back and fired using a crisp single action trigger pull. The performance center tuned trigger kit shoots extremely well in both double and single action. The hammer is checkered on the top side, making cocking sure and foolproof.

The smooth organic contours make it an equally superb fighting gun, or target revolver. Its a bit wide for concealed carry, but an ergonomic design combined with decent power make it an excellent choice for either home defense or plinking.

The 325 Thunder Ranch has a transfer bar safety mounted on the frame. If you're unfamiliar with the function of a transfer bar, it is a thin strip of metal that rises once the trigger is squeezed, allowing the hammer's energy to be transferred to the firing pin and then on to the primer.

The invention of the transfer bar safety allowed revolvers to be carried with a full six rounds in the cylinder without the chance of the hammer being snagged and / or being dropped, then inadvertently fired. In addition, the gun is equipped with a built in key lock to disable the gun for safe storage.

The Smith & Wesson Model 325 Thunder Ranch has a matte black finish that provides an overall pleasing appearance, and a good amount of corrosion resistance. The barrel features an elegantly sculpted half-length underlug that protects the ejector rod from being bent if the underside of the barrel were to violently strike against something, or even get dropped on the pavement. A weapons rail can be mounted in front of the underlug for the use of lights and lasers and is included in the package, along with a thunder ranch pistol rug, a defensive revolver DVD from Clint Smith, and a set of moon clips.

An extremely smooth cylinder latch, combined with positive cartridge extraction, make reloading easy. Overall, the Smith & Wesson Model 325 Thunder Ranch is an excellent choice for any shooter looking for a fast handling, soft recoiling, all purpose big bore handgun.

Stop and think about it. Clint Smith teaches defensive pistol classes year round, and he chose the 325 Thunder Ranch to carry his brand. It certainly spoke volumes about the quality and integrity of the design.
