Glock Perfection. The Glock 26 is ideal for home defense, concealed carry or as a duty weapon. It is a sub- compact 9mm polymer frame handgun that uses a locked breach system that the company refers to as, "Safe Action". This consists of a firing pin lock based on one external and two internal safeties to prevent the striker from moving unless the handgun is fired. By "Safe Action", Glock refers to this combination of the trigger safety, firing pin safety and drop safety to make the loaded pistol safe. The Glock 26 has the advantage of having no external safety, thus allowing the shooter to more appropriately concentrate on the stress fire situation at hand.

Because it does not have a hammer, the 26's spring loaded striker is partially retracted when a round is chambered. Pressing the trigger fully retracts and then releases the striker, allowing the pistol to fire.
This further eliminates the need to consciously think about deactivating a safety catch while under stress, pressure or attack. The Glock 26 has 50% fewer components than conventional handguns of the same caliber. This means there are fewer parts to break, and you can literally disassemble and then reassemble the pistol within seconds.

The frame is made out of a synthetic polymer that is actually stronger than steel, yet 86% lighter and virtually indestructible. It can withstand temperatures ranging from -40 F to +158 F and still continue firing. An integral accessory rail (called the "Universal Glock Rail") provides the benefit of adding tactical lasers and / or lights for dangerous encounters occurring at night or in low light. Textured finger grooves provide a solid grip, while square-shaped, raised dimples on the sides of the frame, frontstrap and backstrap provide even more security and excellent control while shooting. The grip angle is designed so that it's a natural and comfortably fits the hand.

This particular model is commonly referred to as "Gen3". Since Gen1 and Gen2 Glock's are no longer in production, it is only relevant to distinguish between Gen3 and Gen4. This explanation will only explore the benefits of Gen3 Glocks (for Gen4, please see one of our product descriptions detailing those models). Gen3 Glocks have a concealed carry advantage of a non- abrasive grip texture. When carrying concealed (w/o the aid of an undershirt), this translates to less grating of the skin on your back, hip or stomach. Similarly, the Gen3 standard texture finish is less likely to damage or cling to clothing, leading to a faster draw, and fewer trips to the department store to buy new shirts. Yet another advantage is seen when drawing. The Gen4 rough texture is more likely to get "sticky", sometimes not allowing the hand to freely slide up the grip frame into a proper indexing position when drawing from concealment.

The Glock 26 features an outstanding ergonomic design, where a highly efficient bore axis to weight distribution ratio ensures controlled shots, even under rapid fire conditions. Plus, the polymer frame has much softer felt recoil than most conventional metal frame handguns. The pistol weighs in at a little over 19.75 ounces and has a double action only trigger pull of roughly 5.5 pounds. The metal components have been finished with a unique surface treatment called Tenifer that is extremely corrosion and wear resistant. In case you are unfamiliar with Tenifer, this is Glock's term for the ferric nitrocarburized case hardening process that diffuses nitrogen and carbon directly into the metal, thereby elevating the overall surface strength to between a file and a diamond on the Rockwell scale. Two full capacity 10- round magazines are provided with all standard Glock 26 Gen3 civilian packages. A set of white outline sights sit on top of the slide that are highly visible, easy to use and tracks well. Finally, the 3.46" hexagonal hammer forged barrel of the Glock 26 increases velocity and provides greater accuracy potential than conventional rifled barrels.

Third Generation models are distinguished from 1st & 2nd gen Glocks by the addition of a thumb rest on either side of the frame, finger grooves on the strap & a loaded chamber indicator on the extractor. Unlike Gen4 models, Gen3 Glocks feature a standard (vs. rough) texture frame.
